Blue Jay Bowlers Reach End of the Lane in Semifinal
The varsity Jesuit bowling team proved to be a worthy opponent, but ultimately fell 15-12 to Vandebilt Catholic in the semifinal round of the 2014 LHSAA state bowling tournament in Baton Rouge on Saturday, April 12. The game tied at 12 points a piece, and was decided by the total pin count in favor of the Terriers.
Junior Ben Ainsworth led the Jays with a 244, 223, 221 set and won all three of his games.
“It really came down the the last three frames,” said coach John Prejean. “Our top bowlers had below-average pin counts in the final game. Thirty-nine more pins, and we would have won. It hurt to lose this one.” Vandebilt won 3,461-3390 to advance to the title match.
