Jay Dynasty! Lacrosse Wins Third Straight State Championship

The Jesuit lacrosse team capped off a stellar season with an 11-4 win over St. Paul’s on Sunday, April 27, giving the Blue Jays their third consecutive state title. The semi-finals and finals took place at St. Thomas More in Lafayette.

Senior Arman Alizadeh scored four goals in the championship game and was named MVP of the state tournament. Junior goalie Eric Wright took home defensive MVP honors.

Senior Thomas Nimmo added three goals, junior Cameron Guernsey had two, and junior Jacob Cassagne and sophomore Dominic Sunseri each had one.

The Blue Jays whipped Byrd (Shreveport), 19-1, in the semi-final game on Saturday, April 26. Earlier in the day, St. Paul’s beat St. Thomas More, 17-5, to reach the title game.

The 2013-2014 Blue Jay squad consisted of six seniors: Alizadeh, Evan Fitzpatrick, Charley Hamilton, Robert Montenegro, Thomas Nimmo, and Colby Simoneaux.

“We’re going to miss these guys immensely for their prowess on the field and their leadership with our younger players,” said head coach Mike Brantley.

Assistant coaches include Tim White, Nick Helinski (defensive coordinator), and Ryan Napolitano (offensive coordinator).

Coach Brantley offered a special thanks to all the parent volunteers, coaches, players, and their families for making this season so special.

“Success on the field is a product of buy-in at every level and we are blessed to have that at Jesuit in lacrosse and every other sport,” Brantley said.

Jesuit beat St. Paul’s in 2012 to win the school’s first lacrosse crown. Victories over the Wolves in 2013 and 2014 make it three in a row.

“The future remains bright for the sport and for the program at Carrollton and Banks,” Brantley concluded.
