Steve Krobert ’05 is the new head coach of the Jesuit lacrosse program.

In 2004, Steve Krobert helped start the Jesuit lacrosse program. Now he will lead it.

Krobert, a 2005 alumnus, started playing the sport in the fall of 2004 with some of his friends and shortly thereafter decided to start the Lacrosse Club at Carrollton and Banks.

“We didn’t know a whole lot about the sport back then,” Krobert said, “but as we practiced and worked at getting better, our skills began to grow.” And so did the club.

Lacrosse is now one of the most popular and most successful sports at Jesuit. In 2013-14, the school fielded four squads (U-15, JV-B, JV-A, and Varsity) consisting of more than 100 student-athletes.

Krobert replaces head coach Mike Brantley, who helped lead the Blue Jays to three consecutive state championships in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

“I very much look forward to instilling in our players a strong sense of sportsmanship and passion for the game,” Krobert said.

Krobert played four years of college lacrosse at LSU, where he majored in history. While in Baton Rouge, he helped launch the lacrosse program at Catholic High School, serving  as head coach of the JV team and assistant head coach at the varsity level.

Now he’s back where it all started — for him and for Jesuit.

Training starts in the fall. The lacrosse season starts in January.
