Blue Jays Kick Off Swimming Season with Strong Win
The Blue Jay swimming team set the tone for the 2015 season with a solid win in the Greater New Orleans Metro Swim League Kickoff Meet on Sept. 5 at UNO. The Jays scored 378 points which was well in front of the second and third place teams from St. Paul’s (217) and Brother Martin (192.5).
Coach Bret Hanemann ’85 knows how to get the most out of the young team. The 40-member team entered the contest to build confidence, to establish times, and to set goals for the coming months.
Jesuit had a good showing in the top ten spots of all eight varsity events. Topping the Jesuit scoreboard were: senior Cade Fuxan placing second in three events; junior Jack Jackson placing third in two events; junior Josh Armond taking a first place; and senior Felix Rabito, freshman Davis Edwards, and freshman Charles Korndorffer each taking a third place.
The Blue Jays will next compete with the Skippers of Mandeville High at Franco’s Athletic Club on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
