Cafeteria News and Information
2012 - 2013

Dear Blue Jay Students, Parents, and Faculty:

Welcome back to Jesuit High School! We are expecting this year to be the best and most exciting ever. To kick off the 2012-2013 school year, we are again offering new food items, nutritious menus, and healthier choices. We will be offering nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and extra sale items. There has been an increase in the price of school breakfast and lunch, but we hope it will not stop you from using our program. Meal payment assistance is available through the Free/Reduced lunch program. Contact me for information.

Jesuit High School will be using the same computer system this year to manage the students’ accounts. We will be utilizing the finger scan system to purchase lunch and breakfast. Only new students will need to scan their finger during Book Days.

To learn more about the finger-scan program,
please read the letter about the
Touch 'n Go System.

This finger-scan will then be used for the remainder of the school year when your son wishes to debit his cafeteria account to make a purchase in the cafeteria.

To make this system operate at its full potential, we are asking that all meals and extra sale items (juice, milk, etc.) be paid in advance. No lunch money will be accepted at the computers during lunch service, so please make sure any funds are turned in to the cafeteria in advance.  We will not make change for cash purchases in the lunch line. Please have exact change or put the amount you have in your account. Please remind your son to check his balance occasionally if you are not monitoring it online.

Payment will be accepted for one or more weeks, months, or for an entire year. If you find it more convenient, you may send any amount of money, such as $10, $20, or $50 at anytime. Please make sure the student’s name and grade are clearly marked on the payment.

Parents will be able to usethe online payment system through School Files as soon as the student receives his code sheet at Book Day.

To learn more about online payments,
please read the letter about the
 Online Cafeteria Payments.

Parents will also be able to access their sons' account to view any purchases and check on balances. All funds remaining in the account at the end of the school year will be rolled over to next year.

My assistants and I will be available for book days to receive payments. Please make sure the student’s name and grade are clearly marked on the payment.

Students may also use these advance payments to purchase extra sale items. If parents request that only lunch and/or breakfast be subtracted from the balance, students will not be able to purchase extra items. Please send the manager a written request that no extras will be purchased from the student’s account.

AS ALWAYS, THE SCHOOL FOOD SERVICE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT ALLOW CHARGING.  STUDENTS MUST HAVE FUNDS IN THEIR ACCOUNT TO MAKE ANY PURCHASE.

If I may be of any assistance, please feel free to call (504) 483-3857 or stop by the cafeteria. Your ideas and comments are always welcome.

Sincerely,

Ann Broussard
