Harry J. Clark III

I was born and grew up in Algiers, a section of New Orleans just across the Mississippi River from the French Quarter. In those days, I had to catch the Canal Street Ferry and then the Canal Street Streetcar in order to attend Jesuit High School.  I graduated from Jesuit in 1959.  Then, I shipped off to South Bend to attend the University of Notre Dame, receiving in 1963, a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with a biology minor. From there, it was on to Baton Rouge where in 1965, I received a Master of Science degree in zoology with a biochemistry minor from Louisiana State University.  I subsequently taught chemistry at West Jefferson High School from 1965 until 1969, before being called on to come teach at my alma mater, replacing the legendary Edward J. "Shortie" Gendron who had been my high school chemistry teacher. The 2008-2009 school year will be my 40th year at Jesuit High School.

I have enjoyed my many years of teaching at Jesuit and the friendships that I have made in the process.  It is very gratifying to me to have played a role in the development of so many  young men.  Today, many of my chemistry students are sons of my former students.
