The Jesuit team placed second overall in the 2016 Louisiana Mu Alpha Theta State Math Convention that took place from April 7-9 in Baton Rouge. The Blue Jay team, consisting of 61 students, was led by Mu Alpha Theta officers Harrison Millar, Steven Sellers, Andrew Vuong, and Matthew Miceli. The tournament saw competition from 31 schools throughout the state.

The Blue Jays were accompanied by teachers Ms. Jo Ann Schexnayder, Ms. Khanh Nguyen, Ms. Leslie Merritt, Ms. Kate Brauner, Ms. Andrea Mika, Mr. Rob Weiss, and Mr. Paul Rogers.
