On Saturday, Dec. 10, the Music Department of Jesuit High School presented An Evening of Christmas Magic. A near capacity crowd filled the auditorium and enjoyed sounds of the season by the Jesuit Concert Band and the Jesuit Jazz Band, as well as the concert’s dazzling special effects.
Under the direction of Mr. Joseph Caluda ’79, the concert band took the stage and played a five-song set of holiday classics like Sleigh Ride, Merry Christmas Darling, A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Bells of Christmas, and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.
To the delight of the audience, auditorium manager and special effects guru Mr. D.J. Galiano ’07 orchestrated a light show to dance along with the songs.
The Jesuit Jazz Band, under the direction of Mr. Jason Giaccone, closed the evening with an array of songs. Giaccone led the band through a set that included rollicking favorites Frosty the Snowman and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree, as well as Georgia on My Mind, All of Me, and Don’t Worry, Be Happy.
