Game 2 Summary: Jesuit 9 – St. Augustine 2
In the second game of the series, a big scoring inning for the Jays in the top of the seventh blew open a previously close game.
St. Augustine took the early lead 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning as the Jays struggled to get men on base in the early innings. The bats woke up for Jesuit in the fifth inning when junior Andrew Cashman (19) drove in Hunt Conroy (5) and Michael Torry (21) on a two-out double.
After adding one more run in the sixth inning on a single by junior Alex Watermeier (20), the Blue Jays approached top of the seventh ahead just one run at 3-2.
Defensively, Jesuit rotated through three pitchers in the course of the evening. Junior Lee Blosser (17) started on the mount and struck out three batters. Senior Chris Beebe (33) took over in the third inning, and Christian Hess (14) came on in the fifth to get the save. Beebe was credited with the win and had one strike out. Hess struck out four.
The top of the seventh saw six Blue Jays cross home plate for runs. Senior Marshall Lee (10) had a solid RBI triple. Fellow seniors Bryce Musso (9) and Marc Theberge (3) also had singles in the inning, but it was a series of wild pitches, walks, and errors for St. Augustine that gave Jesuit the final advantage.
The Purple Knights were quiet on offense in the bottom of the inning to make the final score 9-2 in favor of the Blue Jays.
