The retreat is scheduled to begin the in the morning on Thursday, August 10, and end after lunch on Saturday, August 12 at Camp Abbey in Covington. Students participating in the retreat will be transported to and from Jesuit by school bus.
The St. Francis Borgia Leadership Institute is a student leadership development program sponsored by Jesuit High School designed with the threefold purpose of identifying current and potential student leaders, offering formation in the virtues of leadership, and fostering collaboration among the different organizations, clubs, and teams within the school community. The retreat will focus on developing leadership in the three areas of student life, spiritual life, and the life of service.
Student leaders will participate in activities designed to help them reflect on their ongoing formation in the context of the mission, history, and traditions of Jesuit High School. This time together will also allow collaboration among leaders of various organizations, clubs, and sports teams within the Jesuit community to discover those qualities of leadership that make Jesuit what it is. Participants will hear from several speakers about leadership in the three areas of student life, spiritual life, and the life of service. Finally, leaders will be called to action in implementing what they have learned and experienced in their own lives as well as the school community in the upcoming year.
This retreat, developed out of a one day student council leadership workshop, has since grown into a weekend leadership retreat that encompasses all clubs, organizations, and teams. The 2017 retreat will focus on the formation of student leaders in major student organizations on campus, such as Student Council, Campus Ministry, and National Honor Society. Outside these organizations the retreat is open to all Jesuit students and other invitations were went out based faculty recommendations. A particular emphasis for this year is the incorporation of leaders involved in athletics teams at both varsity and sub-varsity levels. A representative group covering nearly every sport, club, and organization on campus will be in attendance.
