The Jesuit football team has proven that every weekend is an opportunity…even the weekend before final exams.

On May 19, 2018, approximately 30 rising sophomores from the varsity football team, along with 5 coaches, participated in the Louisiana Special Olympics in Hammond, La. The players and coaches worked as volunteers to assist participants and staff in operating a successful event.

For over 20 years, Jesuit’s sophomore football players have helped make this event highly enjoyable for those in need of extraordinary attention. Head football coach Mark Songy was especially pleased that his players are relied upon yearly to work the event and continue what it has become — a resounding success. “Our players continue to be very helpful and supportive as men for others,” Coach Songy asserted. “Congratulations to these guys…they make us proud, and we look forward to continuing to support the Louisiana Special Olympics for many years to come.”
