Wrestling Snags Third in District, Three Individual Titles
Cutting weight for wrestling is not fun. Senior co-captain Luke Eccles did it, though, cutting down to 126 pounds on his way to an individual district title. Two other seniors joined Luke, not in trimming weight, but in winning. Colby Queyrouze (145) and co-captain Perry Ganci (285) captured gold medals in their respective weight classes, and together the three senior leaders helped Jesuit snag a third-place finish in the 2019 Catholic League Championships.
Senior co-captain DJ Ferrier placed second individually and gave Jesuit four spots in the finals. Brother Martin, who won the tournament, pushed 12 to the finals; and district runner-up Holy Cross had nine in the finals. Jesuit’s other 10 wrestlers all advanced to the 3rd place match with six of them winning the bronze medal.
