2019 Spring signees with their parents

At a NCAA signing ceremony on May 8, eight Jesuit student-athletes made commitments to collegiate programs in golf, soccer, swimming, and track and field. With parents, family members, friends, and teammates looking on, the almost-Blue Jay alumni signed commitments to attend seven different universities.

The eight Blue Jays who made their commitments are:

Britton Khalaf, head golf coach Owen Seiler ’75, and Jackson Maniscalco

Britton Khalaf (Birmingham-Southern College) H: 6’2” W: 185

Britton Khalaf will make an NCAA commitment to play golf for Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL. Jesuit’s head golf coach, Owen Seiler ’75, had this to say about Khalaf:

“Britton Khalaf has been a starter on our team since his freshmen year and was a critical part of 2017 state championship team. Britton truly grew into the leader of the team over these four years. The great thing about Britton that convinces me of his future success is that he enjoyed his senior year more than the state championship year because he was able to be our leader. He really understood that gift of giving back to his teammates. We wish him all the best in his college career.”

Jackson Maniscalco (Spring Hill College) H: 5’9” W: 130

Jackson Maniscalco will make an NCAA commitment to play golf for Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL. Jesuit’s head golf coach, Owen Seiler, had this to say about Maniscalco:

“Jackson Maniscalco has been on the Jesuit golf team since his freshmen year. This young man has persevered through the adversity of fighting to be a starter since that year. In his senior year, not only did he achieve that goal, but he exceeded my expectations. I wish him the best in his collegiate career and know he will be a success in life.”

Ashton Perkins (High Point University) H: 5’10” W: 165

Ashton Perkins will make an NCAA commitment to play soccer for High Point University in High Point, NC. Jesuit’s head soccer coach, Hubie Collins, had this to say about Perkins:

“Ashton Perkins is a very versatile player and can play in many different positions. Playing mostly midfield while at Jesuit, his outstanding pace and technical abilities made him a very difficult opponent to defend. Ashton’s work rate at practices and in games was very impressive and very motivational for his teammates. He is also a member of the track and field squad at Jesuit. We wish Ashton all the best both academically and athletically at High Point University in North Carolina.”

Jacob Randolph, Chris Tadros, head soccer coach Hubie Collins, Jacob Torres, and Ashton Perkins

Jacob Randolph (Barton College) H: 6’4” W: 250

Jacob Randolph will make an NCAA commitment to play soccer for Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina. Jesuit’s head soccer coach, Hubie Collins, had this to say about Randolph:

“Jacob was the starting varsity goalkeeper for the 2018-2019 season, amazingly with 23 shutouts in a 33-game season. His technical abilities, tactical awareness, mental toughness, and outstanding athleticism helped Jesuit reach the state final and retain their district title. We wish Jacob all the best, both athletically and academically, while attending Barton College in North Carolina.”

Chris Tadros (Oglethorpe University) H: 5’8” W: 165

Chris Tadros will make an NCAA commitment to play soccer for Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA. Jesuit’s head soccer coach, Hubie Collins, had this to say about Tadros:

“Chris helped captain the Jesuit varsity soccer team in the 2018-2019 season. He is a center midfielder and always has a very positive attitude both on and off the field. Even when Chris was recovering from a serious knee injury this year, he always kept a smile on his face. He will always be remembered for his incredible goal from 40 yards just seconds before the final whistle in the 2017-2018 state final. We wish Chris all the best both athletically and academically at Oglethorpe College in Georgia.”

Jacob Torres (Occidental College) H: 5’10” W: 135

Jacob Torres will make an NCAA commitment to play soccer and run track for Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA. Jesuit’s head soccer coach, Hubie Collins, had this to say about Torres:

“Jacob is an outstanding player both technically and tactically. He is very proficient with both feet and has a nose for goal. As a wide on the left midfield player, Jacob always made difficult skills look easy. He scored both goals in Jesuit’s come-from-behind victory in this year’s state quarterfinal. Jacob is also on the track and field team at Jesuit, and at Occidental College in California he intends to participate with the track and field program as well as playing soccer. We wish Jacob all the best both athletically and academically in his future endeavors.”

Head track coach, Rudy Horvath ’83, added these words about Torres:

“A three-time state qualifier in the 300 hurdles, two-time state qualifier in the 110 hurdles, and just missing a state qualifying long jump this year, Occidental College is getting an explosive sprinter, hurdler, and jumper in Jacob Torres. Jacob has a tireless work ethic, and he thrives during competition. When Jacob competes in his favorite race, the 300 meter hurdles, Jacob is intensity personified. I am confident that his positive, can-do attitude will have an instant impact on the Occidental College track team.”

Connor Daigle, head swimming coach Bret Hanemann ’85, and Connor Schwartz

Connor Daigle (University of Montevallo) H: 5’11” W: 155

Connor Daigle will make an NCAA commitment to swim for University of Montevallo in Montevallo, AL. Jesuit’s head swimming coach, Bret Hanemann ‘85, had this to say about Daigle:

“Connor Daigle has been on the Jesuit swim team since his 8th grade year. By the end of his freshman year, Connor had made the turn. He was committed to training and determined to have better technique in the water. Watching Connor mature both in the pool and more importantly out of the pool has been a pleasure. He is a joy to be around and only brings positive energy to those around him.”

Connor Schwartz (Birmingham-Southern College) H: 6’0” W: 175

Connor Schwartz will make an NCAA commitment to swim for Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, AL. Jesuit’s head swimming coach, Bret Hanemann ’85, had this to say about Schwartz:

“Connor Schwartz has been on the Jesuit swim team since his 8th grade year. Connor is a leader by example. He will not be the extroverted, fire-the-team-up kind of guy, but he will work harder than most swimmers on any given set at any given practice. His work ethic is contagious, and he holds the rest of his teammates accountable during practice and during competition. He will bring a great work ethic to his new team and make Birmingham-Southern a better program.”
