The Class of 1999 really showed up for their 20-year reunion held in the middle of April. Not only did the guys renew their Blue Jay bond and brotherhood, but they did so at two new venues that have Jesuit ties to them. Class reunion chair Collin Holmes was very impressed with the turnout at both events.
Kyle Brechtel of Brechtel Hospitality opened the Vintage Rock Club on Poydras Street in October of 2018. The “throwback bar” venue took over the Rampart Room event space above the Walk-On’s sports bar, and the Class of 1999 celebrated its couples’ night there for the venue’s first-ever class reunion. Then on Saturday night the guys went stag to Tchoup Yard, which opened just two and a half years ago in the Irish Channel. The Jesuit connection at Tchoup Yard is award-winning and locally renowned Chef Patrick White ’04, who owns Karibu Kitchen located in the back area of the patio bar.
After the weekend that saw almost 100 people at both events, the ’99 Class Facebook group was flooded with complimentary posts and comments. Bryan Bertucci ’99 said it perfectly: “Great evening. Thanks Collin Holmes and Kyle Brechtel for getting everything together.”
