On Saturday, April 24, Jesuit students and their grandparents arrived at the Chapel of the North American Martyrs on Jesuit’s campus to celebrate the special relationship between Blue Jay grandparents and their grandchildren. In order to safely accommodate all families, two Masses were held to provide for adequate social distancing in the large chapel.

The first Mass was celebrated by Jesuit’s chaplain, Fr. Kevin Dyer, S.J., and the second was celebrated by Fr. Stephen Kramer, S.J. Both priests emphasized the importance of grandparents in every family and in society, and, during both Masses, grandparents and grandchildren were treated to sacred music provided by instrumentalists and vocalists from Jesuit’s Mass Choir under the leadership of Jeremy Reuther ’01 and Scott Delatte ’06.

In a new component of this annual event, three senior speakers offered stories and personal vignettes about their relationship with their grandparents; Ben Hunn and Ethan Morgan spoke after the first Mass, and Ian Reily spoke after the second.

To help families commemorate the event, Loupe photography provided photos before and during Mass. Any families who have not yet ordered their photos can contact Loupe photography for information.
