After Victory in Lafayette, Lacrosse Advances to LHSLL Semifinals
The Jesuit lacrosse team (now 7–0) burst through the first round of the LHSLL playoffs with a 19–5 Quarterfinal victory over Chaos in Lafayette.
Standout senior attack Andrew Brown (who recently committed to play college lacrosse for Berry College) was named LHSLL Player of the Game with four goals and five assists, but fellow seniors Evan Centola (four goals), Miller Farnsworth (three goals), and Jack Unger (three goals) also made substantial offensive contributions. While Unger dominated the midfield, winning five of seven face-off attempts, junior middy George Martin also won six faceoffs while contributing a goal of his own upfield.
Also at midfield, senior David Welsh kept the Chaos offense in check by picking up four ground balls and forcing four turnovers; sophomores Michael Welsh, David’s brother, and Masen Mannina also picked up a ground ball each with Mannina winning four face-offs of his own.
On Saturday, May 15, the team continues into the Semifinal round of the LHSLL playoffs against Lower Alabama. The championship weekend games will be aired on CST and broadcast by Cox Sports.
