Soccer Sails Past Ben Franklin With 3-0 Win
With a cloudy sky giving way to rainy conditions on the field at Benjamin Franklin High School, the Jesuit soccer team (13-2-4) brought home a 3-0 victory against the Falcons on Saturday, January 15.
Junior Aidan Corbello scored a long goal in the first half to put the Jays on the board, and fellow junior Carter Dusang closed out the first half with another goal. The Jays put together several solid attempts on the Falcon goal in the second half leading to a header by senior John Wimberly to close out the game.
On the Blue Jay side of the field, Jesuit held Franklin scoreless with a combination of defensive discipline and successful stops by senior goalkeeper Ali Hussain.
Currently ranked #3 beneath Catholic High School (11-0-3) and St. Amant (13-0-5) in the weekly Division I Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association poll, the Blue Jay squad is set to faceoff against the University High Cubs (13-1-3) in Baton Rouge this Thursday. The cubs are currently ranked #1 in LHSCCA Division III polls.
