The Jayettes dance team will host tryouts for the 2022- 2023 team. Tryouts are for girls entering or attending an all-girl Catholic High School from 8th to 12th grade as well as daughters of former Jayettes and Jesuit alumni. Tryouts will consist of two judging rounds. At the end of Round 1, girls will be informed if they are invited to participate in Round 2. Full details below.
Mock Tryouts (Grades 7 & Below)
We are also introducing Mock Tryouts for dancers entering grades 7 and below. They will be invited to participate in our actual tryout process to gain experience and insight on how a high school tryout operates. Girls will take part in both rounds of auditions and receive valuable feedback from judges. The first 20 candidates to register will be able to participate. Please register using this registration form and pay the $25 registration fee via Venmo.

Tryout Round 1
Tryout Date:
Friday, April 22, 2022: 4pm-7pm
Tryout Location:
Benson Arena at Jesuit High School
Details:
Prior to tryouts everyone will be required to fill out an online Jayette Registration Form which will be due Wednesday, April 20, 2022. All participants will be required to pay a $25 registration fee via Venmo also due Wednesday, April 20, 2022. Please list the candidate’s name in the notes of the payment. Candidates for the 2022 – 2023 Jayettes dance team will be paired in small groups and complete technical skills across the floor to be evaluated. Immediately following the technique assessment, all candidates will learn the routine for Round 2 judging. Everyone, including returning Jayettes, is required to participate in this first round of tryouts. Girls will be informed if they are invited to participate in Round 2 prior to Round 1 dismissal. Attire for Round 1 will be a black leotard, black shorts, tan stockings, and jazz shoes with hair pulled back.

Saturday, April 23, 2022: 9am-2pm

Benson Arena at Jesuit High School
Details:
Candidates selected for Round 2 will arrive at tryouts at a designated time based off of their audition group and will check in upon arrival. In groups of 3, candidates will perform a choreographed routine in front of a panel of judges. Candidates will be released at the conclusion of their tryout. Attire for Round 2 will be the same as Round 1.
