Michael Prat ’97 Named Christian Brothers School Alumnus of the Year
PRESS RELEASE — Michael J. Prat, Jr., (of the Jesuit Class of 1997) a CBS graduate of 1992 who has been serving as principal of the Christian Brothers School’s City Park campus since 2016, has been named Alumnus of the Year by the Christian Brothers School Alumni Association. The CBS Alumni Association honored its 2022 award winners at the association’s annual crawfish boil on April 9 at the CBS City Park campus.
Prat started teaching at CBS in 2001 after graduation from the University of South Alabama with a degree in secondary education. He later receiving his master’s in educational administration from the University of New Orleans in 2008. Prat has served CBS in a variety of roles, including fifth grade homeroom teacher and as a sixth and seventh grade literature and English teacher. He has coached and moderated a variety of activities at the school, including baseball, basketball, flag football and the Lasallian Youth Organization.
For a period of years, he served the legacy New Orleans-Santa Fe District of the Brothers as director of Lasallian Programs and represented the district and its schools on various district and national boards and commitees. Prat met his wife Rachael at Camp Abbey in Covington, where he was a counselor and administrator for 10 years. Rachael is also a teacher at CBS on the Canal Street campus, and the couple has five children who attend Christian Brothers School.
