Bowling Takes Down Rummel to Advance to 8-1 Record
Down two starters, the Jays got off to a slow start against Rummel’s bowling team on Thursday. Trailing 3-5, the Jays evened the match at 8-8 after game two. Led by senior Will Adams and sophomore Jonathan Cho in the third game, the Jays swept 10 of last 11 points en route to a nail-biting 18-9 victory over the Raiders.
Adams led bowlers from both teams with a season high 650 series and a 266 final game. Cho continued his roll with games of 212 and 208. Seniors William Carpenter and Preston Roark contributed games of 212 and 200, respectively in the victory.
Under the leadership of coach Todd Bourgeois, the team’s strong season until this point bodes well for its remaining matchups, and the win against Rummel ensures that the team will have at least a share in the 2022-23 LHSAA district title. Blue Jay bowlers have defeated all Catholic League opponents that they have faced this season, and the Jays’ only remaining Catholic League opponent is Holy Cross with a matchup set for March 9.
Next up for the 8-1 Blue Jays is East Jefferson on February 27.
