Jesuit Captures District 9-5A Track and Field Title
The Jesuit track and field team won the District 9-5A championship Thursday evening at Tad Gormley Stadium for the first time since 2011. The Blue Jays swept the field and distance events with 140 total points, beating John Curtis, who scored 120. Edna Karr was third with 97 points.
Jesuit’s distance runners, seniors Patrick Dowd and Robert Buisson, finished first and second in the 3200 to clinch the championship. The Blue Jay 4 x 800 relay team, sophomore Michael Trepagnier, junior Tanner Salsman, freshman Alex Siguenza, and senior Jack DesRoches, set a district record with a time of 8:13.19.
Several members of the track and field team will advance to the Region III-5A meet next week in Thibodaux.
