Blue Jays Sail Ahead
The Sailing Club has set sail with a promising start, continuing to excel while demonstrating exceptional technical skills on the water.
October 13 marked the conclusion of the Fall Racing Series for the New Orleans district. Jesuit stood strong in competition against Ben Franklin, Ursuline, Mount Carmel, and Sacred Heart. The Blue Jay team, made up of seniors Dylan Davis and Harrison Dietz along with sophomores David Karcher, Aidan McKoin, Matthew Brown, Jonathan Brockhoff, and Vincent Welty, demonstrated remarkable teamwork.
In recognition of their efforts, Jesuit’s name will be engraved on the competition’s perpetual trophy, which will be proudly displayed at the Southern Yacht Club.
More recently, the team participated in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Great Oaks Invitational Regatta hosted by the Southern Yacht Club. The squad finished second among 28 schools from across the country. In the qualifying round on Saturday, Davis, Brown, McKoin, and sophomore Connor Fanberg delivered a commendable performance, securing a second-place finish in their division and earning a spot in the championship round. The Sunday competition saw the dynamic team of Fanberg and McKoin finishing just three points shy of first place.
