Bowling Team Begins District Play with Spotless Record
The bowling team commenced its season on Thursday, Jan. 18, with a remarkable performance, securing a 16-11 victory over Central Lafourche at Bowlero Kenner. The Blue Jays showcased their strength on the lanes, capturing seven of nine points on the right pair, as their three bowlers averaged over 218.
Junior Nicholas Womble’s outstanding 279 opening game and 671 series provided a significant advantage, helping to counterbalance Central Lafourche’s depth at the top spots and securing three points for Jesuit based on the overall total pins (3,480-3,423). Junior Joseph Anderson led the team with a 708 series, while sophomore Grant Gehring maintained consistency with a 636 series and junior Jonathan Cho added a 622 series. After the first game, Jesuit led 5-3 with a 109-pin advantage, which was crucial in their final tally.
Four days later, on Monday, Jan. 22, Jesuit secured a commanding 27-0 victory over Destrehan with a series score of 3,624. Anderson continued his impressive streak with a 696 series, delivering game scores of 237, 255, and 204. The Jay’s robust start (2-0) featured 11 games scoring over 200, with Cho, Gehring, and Womble each contributing two games apiece to this tally.
The Jays continued their winning streak with a resounding 27-0 victory over East Jefferson on Thursday, Feb. 1. Junior Alex Darcey set an impressive pace with a 264 opening game, propelling Jesuit (4-0) ahead. The team was also bolstered by solid performances from Anderson, with a 616 series, and Womble, with a 612 series.
On Monday, Feb. 5, Jesuit maintained their undefeated record, rolling a 3,435 team series to deliver a 27-0 shutout against St. Augustine. The team’s unwavering consistency was evident in their series scores of 1,142, 1,154, and 1,139. Gehring led the Blue Jays with a 644 series, and Womble contributed the day’s top opening game with a score of 249.
The Jays will head to Hammond Thursday, February 8 at 3:20 p.m. at Tangi Lanes for their next match-up.
