Pre-Freshman Jackson Cantrelle Shines in Little League World Series Championship
Jackson Cantrelle, a pre-freshman and alumnus of Christian Brothers, has already achieved remarkable success on the baseball diamond. Cantrelle recently helped lead Eastbank Little League to victory in the Intermediate 50/70 Division World Series, securing the organization’s second world championship title.
Eastbank Little League faced off against Livermore, California, in the U.S. championship game. The team found itself trailing 1-0 until the top of the sixth inning, eventually securing a 3-1 victory. A crucial insurance run in the top of the seventh came from an infield single, bringing Cantrelle home.
The excitement continued as Eastbank advanced to the world championship game against Seoul, South Korea the following evening. In a nail-biting finish, Cantrelle scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, leading Eastbank to an 8-7 victory.
Throughout the tournament, Cantrelle was a standout performer, hitting a team-best .556 in five games.
