Blue Jays and their mothers gathered for a heartfelt morning of reflection and celebration for Jesuit’s annual Mother-Son Mass and Breakfast. The event commenced with Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church on Baronne Street, a location steeped in history as the original home of Jesuit High School until 1925. Celebrated by Fr. Anthony McGinn, S.J. ‘66, Fr. John Brown, S.J., Fr. Stephen Kramer, S.J., and Fr. Roy Joseph, S.J., Mass offered a meaningful opportunity for attendees to reflect on the profound bonds between mothers and sons within the Jesuit community.

“Place yourself in uncomfortable situations that make you stronger—that make your mother know you haven’t wasted her sacrifices.”

Senior Brady Mullen

Following Mass, guests made their way across the street to the Roosevelt Hotel for a delightful breakfast gathering. The event featured poignant speeches, including one by senior Brady Mullen, who shared a heartwarming story about his mother, Melissa and her “motherly comfort that was my saving grace at the lowest point of my life.” His words resonated deeply with the audience, leaving not a dry eye in the room.

“I believe I’m on the path to making sure that her sacrifices have not gone to waste,” stated Mullen. He continued to urge the sons in the room to “Place yourself in uncomfortable situations that make you stronger—that make your mother know you haven’t wasted her sacrifices—so that she knows that you are going to use every little opportunity to show her suffering, the ups and downs, the fun times hanging out with her were so you can become the best man that you could be. Everyone: be that man for her, and show that you love her. Don’t just tell her.”

Senior twins Cameron and Joseph Colletti expressed heartfelt gratitude for their mother, Kimberly. Joseph shared stories of her selflessness, highlighting how she cared for him after surgery. Cameron recounted his mother’s remarkable qualities, emphasizing how she ensured that neither he nor his brother felt left out by spending unique, quality time with each of them.

Cameron also spoke about a challenging personal issue his mother helped him navigate, saying, “My mom made me feel understood and that I was not alone.” Reinforcing his devotion, he encouraged the audience, “Tell your moms that you love them and let them know how much you appreciate them. Our moms will always be there for us at our best times and our worst, and that is truly a gift from God.”

Special thanks goes to Loupe Photography, who provided mothers with photo mementos to commemorate their time with their Blue Jays. These keepsakes served as a lasting reminder of the cherished moments shared during the Mother-Son Breakfast, an event that continues to strengthen the bonds within the Jesuit community.
