Blue Jays Sailing Along
The Jesuit Sailing Club has been navigating a successful season on the water. Their season began with a trip to Seabrook, TX, where they participated in the SEISA Singlehanded Championship. In the SEISA ILCA6 championship, junior David Karcher secured an impressive second-place finish, while sophomore Arthur Meade achieved sixth place. Freshman Anders Fanberg also made his mark, finishing fifth in the SEISA ILCA7 category.
October brought further accolades as the club competed well in the Great Oaks Regatta qualifier race. Jesuit was represented by four boats, each demonstrating commendable performance. Arthur Meade and David Karcher clinched first place, while pre-freshmen Parker Lilly and Harrison Teske finished sixth. Junior Aidan McKoin and freshman Thomas Dennings followed closely in seventh place, with juniors Jonathan Brockhoff and Vincent Welty rounding out the team in fifteenth out of a total of 16 boats. Competing against six schools, Jesuit emerged victorious, securing the overall first place.
Most recently, the sailing team competed in the Great Oaks Regatta, which featured 28 schools, including 24 from other states. Despite challenging conditions with light and shifting winds, the sailors persevered over two days of competition, achieving a commendable tenth place overall.
