Jesuit’s inaugural LHSAA-sanctioned powerlifting season marks an impressive debut for the team, demonstrating their strength and determination across four competitions this year. Guided by Coach Corey Bordelon, the team has established a solid foundation for future success, with 32 of 33 members set to return next year.

Senior Luke Cunningham, in the 275 lb weight class, emerged as the top lifter of the meet in Covington. Cunningham is currently ranked 11th in the state and holds three of Jesuit’s four powerlifting records. His outstanding performance is a testament to his dedication and skill.

Sophomore Logan Boutte, in the 220 lb weight class, made a notable impact at the West Bank Invitational, securing a second-place finish and earning a 19th state ranking. Boutte also holds the school record for the deadlift, further highlighting his strength in the sport.

Junior William Barnett, sophomore Alex Moore, and junior Brock Pruitt showcased their talents, finishing second, fourth, and third, respectively, at the Covington meet. Each of these young men achieved personal bests, demonstrating their commitment to improvement and excellence.

The team’s achievements this year underscore the promising future of the powerlifting program. With a strong core of athletes returning, the team is poised to build on its success and continue to thrive in the seasons to come.

The Blue Jays look ahead in hopes to lift at the Regional meet March 1 and State March 29.
