Wrestling continued its impressive streak by securing their third consecutive Division I state championship this weekend at Brookshire Arena in Bossier City. Under the leadership of Jon Orillion ’01, the Blue Jays demonstrated their tenacity, placing more wrestlers on the awards podium than any other Division I school and amassing a total of 284.5 points over the two-day tournament.

Senior Bodi Harris achieved a personal milestone by winning the 126-pound title and becoming a three-time state champion, following in the footsteps of his father, Spencer Harris ’89, who was also a three-time wrestling state champ. Harris was one of five Jesuit wrestlers to advance to the finals. In total, 12 Blue Jays earned spots on the awards podium.

Mirroring last year’s strong performance, the team had practically assured a blue and white victory before the final matchups began. The depth of the Jays’ roster was a key asset for the team, and Jesuit wrestlers captured the 27th state championship in school history. This brings the team within one championship of the Louisiana 28-championship record.

Orillion has successfully guided his alma mater to three consecutive titles, reinforcing Jesuit’s reputation as a traditional powerhouse in wrestling.

“This year has been a long year,” Orillion told Crescent City Sports. “We’ve been battling injuries and a lot of adversity this year. To watch these guys rally around each other at this tournament… and to be down after six points after day one… it really just shows the effort and the trust these guys have in each other.”

As they conclude their senior season, both Harris and Jose Rincon have achieved 100 career wins, a remarkable personal milestone.
