Senior Jose Rincon Earns POSSE Scholarship

Senior Jose Rincon has been named a POSSE Scholarship recipient. Rincon is an alumnus of St. Dominic and is the son of Elaine Garcia and Jose Rincon. He has been accepted to Texas A&M University, where he plans to attend in the fall. Rincon aims to major in Engineering.
Posse Scholars are chosen from a pool of nominees from around the state. Through several rounds of interviews, the original pool was narrowed down to a set of finalists before scholarships were awarded to the most exceptional candidates.
At Jesuit, Rincon has been an active student leader and member of several co-curricular activities. He is the captain of the wrestling team and a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.
“I was fortunate enough to have Jose in my class as a student and on my team as a wrestler. Jose attacked his classwork with the same passion and hard work that he put into his wrestling. It is no surprise to me that Jose would receive the honor of this scholarship. As a Captain of the wrestling team, he has all the qualities of a leader and someone that will do great things after his time at Jesuit. I truly look forward to seeing what Jose has to offer this world in the future. He is someone that will be missed on campus and in the wrestling room” – Coach Jon Orillion ’01
Above all, Jesuit relentlessly pursues God’s greater glory. While students’ academic accolades reflect the school’s mission, they are not the mission itself. They instead signify that Blue Jays are becoming the men that they were made to be: men of faith and men for others.
Alongside celebrating students who attain these academic accomplishments, Jesuit also highlights graduating seniors who are named winners of highly selective merit-based national scholarship competitions. Click here to read about more of these students.
