Yesterday marked the return of baseball to John Ryan Stadium after a year-long hiatus due to turf repairs, adding a special significance to their commanding 11-4 victory over Pearl River.

In their opener against Mandeville at Kirsch Rooney Stadium, the Blue Jays pulled off a 5-0 shutout. Highlights included seniors Harry Leche and Tyler Sciambra scoring after being hit by a pitch and a walk, respectively, with help from a Mandeville error. Senior Jake Moreci was stellar on the mound, giving up just two hits over five innings while fanning seven. Senior Brandon Thomas closed it out in relief, keeping the scoreboard clean.

On the road against Pope John Paul, Jesuit snagged an 8-5 win. After falling behind, the Blue Jays rallied with a six-run sixth inning. Sophomore Jackson Dugan’s clutch double drove in two, showcasing a solid team effort. Juniors Maes Martin and Zach Friloux handled pitching duties, with Friloux wrapping up the win with two scoreless innings.

Against Ponchatoula, Jesuit kept its streak alive with a 4-1 victory. The team took advantage of an error to score early. Sophomore Calvin Magee was key on the mound, allowing no runs over four innings, backed by flawless defense led by Sciambra, who made eight fielding plays.

Facing Covington, Jesuit secured a 6-3 win, sparked by junior Michael Brothers, who went 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. Senior Connor Donnelly got the win, and Jackson Dugan closed it out with two scoreless innings of relief.

The Blue Jays continue to propel momentum with an 11-4 win against Pearl River at John Ryan Stadium. A five-run fourth inning turned the game, with senior Ryan Saunders leading the charge by going 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Moreci and junior Beau Matulewski teamed up on the mound to seal the victory.

With a 5-0 start, under the leadership of head coach Kenny Goodlett and assistant coach Gino Giambelluca, the baseball team has secured wins against Mandeville, Pope John Paul, Ponchatoula, Covington, and Pearl River, positioning them for a successful season.
