Freshman Anthony Amadeo III Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Freshman Anthony Amadeo III, the son of Anthony and Brandie Amadeo and an alumnus of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Eagle Scout is the highest achievement attainable in the Scouts BSA program of the Boy Scouts of America. Scouts BSA aims to develop leaders who cultivate a love of service through community volunteering, aligning closely with Jesuit’s cultivation of servant leadership as it forms Blue Jays into men for others.
To achieve the Eagle Scout rank, scouts must accumulate at least 21 merit badges in citizenship, family, personal responsibility, preparedness, physical fitness, and outdoor skills. Additionally they must plan, develop, and lead a service project—the Eagle Service Project—that demonstrates both leadership and a commitment to duty. After all requirements are fulfilled, scouts undergo it with a lengthy review process.

After only two years in scouts, Amadeo achieved a prestigious rank by earning 121 merit badges—just 17 shy of earning every merit badge. For his Eagle Service Project, he collected over 1,100 toys for Toys for Tots—one of its largest donation drives this year—through proactive outreach to numerous institutions, including his alma mater, Our Lady of Prompt Succor School; OLPS Church; Mount Carmel, where he addressed over 200 Student Council members; and all Catholic high schools throughout the city, among other organizations. At Jesuit, Amadeo is a member of the football, wrestling, powerlifting, and rugby teams, serves as a representative at large for STUCO, is active in the Spanish Club, and holds the rank of lance corporal in MCJROTC, where he contributes to the drill team and color guard. Additionally, he participates in the Ice Cream Social, Sodality of Our Lady, altar serving, and Pro-Life initiatives. Amadeo aspires to pursue a future in medicine.
