Yesterday the Blue Jays claimed Jesuit’s third consecutive District 9-5A track and field championship at Tad Gormley with 176 points and set new meet records in both the 110 hurdles and the 4×800 relay. The record-breaking performances and top-three finishes across sprints, distance, and field events underscore Jesuit’s growing depth and balance.

Jesuit track and field athletes have long excelled in distance and field events and this season added hurdles to its strengths. Sophomore Ja’ir Burks was the Blue Jays’ sole multiple-event winner, sweeping both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles. Burks 13.70 finish in the 110 hurdles shattered a 47-year district meet record. Seniors Brandt Blanchard won the 800 meters, Connor Fanberg topped the 1,600, and Brady Mullen secured the 3,200 as Jesuit placed two runners atop each podium to accumulate 54 points. The 4×800 relay team—Alex Siguenza, Jack Flanagan, Michael Trepagnier, and Finn Connolly—set a meet record at 8:07.05. In the field, sophomore Drago Cvitanovich cleared 6-0 in the high jump, and the team recorded four other top-three finishes.

Thirty-one Blue Jays qualified for the regional meet. The team will carry its momentum into next week’s regional meet at Hahnville.
