Thumbs Up! Blue Jay Alumnus Makes it Three in a Row on Jeopardy!
Stuart Anderson of the Class of 2001 won again on Jeopardy!, bringing his three-night total winnings to $51,601. On Thursday, Oct. 17, the Air Force captain beat an opera singer from New Jersey and a graduate student from Florida.
All three contestants wrote down the right question in Final Jeopardy!: “What is a thumbs up?” The answer was “Facebook and TIVO have both claimed trademarks for an icon representing this gesture.” Anderson finished Thursday’s game with $24,801, just a single dollar ahead of the grad student.
During Thursday’s program, Anderson, a military attorney who is currently stationed in Italy, told game-show host Alex Trebek that he spends some of his down time assisting military families with personal legal matters. Clearly, a dozen years after his high school graduation, Anderson feels it important to be a man for others, a key component of Jesuit’s mission statement.
Anderson, who helped the Blue Jay quiz bowl team win three divisional titles and a state championship, makes his fourth appearance on Friday, October 18 at 6 p.m. In New Orleans, the program airs on FOX 8.
