Cross Country Takes Third in Walker Shootout
On a cool, rainy Saturday, Oct. 19 morning, a full compliment of varsity Cross Country runners participated in the Walker Shootout at Sid Hutchinson Park in Walker, Louisiana. The muddy three-mile course made for difficult conditions as many in the field of more than 260 individual runners and 30 schools took falls and finished with slower-than-expected times.
Jesuit finished a solid third place behind St. Paul’s and Catholic High Schools. Junior Matthews Vargas had the top Jesuit finish, at 19th overall. Despite tough conditions, the team’s overall average improved this week (16:34), leading into the homestretch of the season. The Jays return to action at the Metro Championship on Thursday, Oct. 31.
