MCJROTC Leads “Toys for Tots” Homeroom Contest Through Dec. 14
In conjunction with the national U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program, Jesuit’s Marine Corps JROTC (MCJROTC) will once again participate in the annual Toys for Tots drive. The MCJROTC will lead a homeroom-wide contest to collect as many new, unwrapped gifts as possible. Founded in 1947, the program distributes toys to children whose parents are unable to purchase Christmas gifts.
Students in the MCJROTC sponsor the class-level competition to see which homeroom can collect the most toys. Similar to the Thanksgiving Drive, the Toys for Tots Program also creates bonding opportunities for students within their homerooms. In each grade, the homeroom that collects the most toys will win a Krispy Kreme doughnut breakfast at the beginning of the second semester.
The MCJROTC provided each homeroom with a Toys for Tots collection box. By Friday, Dec. 14, each homeroom will turn in toys for collection and counting to LtCol. Tim Huete and MGySgt. J.R. Piseno in the MCJROTC Office.
Coordinating Instructions:
- Toys must be new and unwrapped (i.e., not wrapped in Christmas paper). Do not recycle old, used toys.
- The homeroom in each grade that collects the most toys will be declared the winner for that grade.
- There will be a minimum number of toys that must be collected for the homeroom to qualify for the contest. Homerooms must collect at least one toy per student to qualify.
- Toys may be turned in at any time to the MCJROTC Office (Room 107). See LtCol. Huete or MGySgt. Piseno to get credit for toys collected.
- Contact LtCol. Huete or MGySgt. Piseno if you have any questions about this contest.
Local Toys for Tots campaigns are the heart and soul of the Marine Toys for Tots program, and Jesuit students will continue to be a part of this Christmas-giving effort.
