Houston Jays Learn of Jesuit’s Future at Meet-the-President Reception
Jesuit president Fr. Chris Fronk and his travelling Minds and Hearts Enlightened Campaign kickoff show landed in Houston on the evening of February 28. The Houston Jays and their guests, more than 85 strong, gathered at the downtown Brennan’s to enjoy an evening of fine food, special camaraderie, and important information about Jesuit’s future, all made possible by the generosity of Lynn and Bob Murphy ’69, Charlene and John O’Shea ’80, and Janet and John Ryan ’70.
Fr. Fronk, assisted by Jesuit’s advancement director Tom Bagwill and alumni director Mat Grau ’68, made sure the gathered Jays left well informed about the Jesuit of today and plans for future growth that the campaign will bring. Guests also left well informed about the school leader’s background and his inspiring story of how he came to be president of Jesuit High School.
As is tradition with most Houston alumni events, Bob Peri ’80 and his trumpet ended the evening with the playing and singing of the Blue Jay Alma Mater. Blue Jay Spirit was quite high as the Blue Jays departed appreciative of the information and the opportunity to participate in the building of the school’s bright future.
The Houston visit was the latest stop on a national tour of Jesuit’s alumni chapters to have the school’s graduates meet the current caretaker of their alma mater and invite them to participate in the realization of his mission to provide the best possible environment to achieve the goal of forming men of faith and men for others.
