Welcome Week 2019 a Blast for Blue Jays of All Grade Levels
A day at Jesuit entails more than just the classroom and homework. While formation—both spiritual and academic—is the main focus of a young man’s stay here at Jesuit, it is not the complete picture. Social formation is another important aspect of a Jesuit education that rounds out the student by providing opportunities to practice the principles he has learned, and to have fun doing it.
Certainly, one of those fun opportunities is Welcome Week.
No matter their background, personality, or grade level, Jesuit students were invited and encouraged to participate in Welcome Week from Monday, Aug. 26, to Thursday, Aug. 29. The purpose of the week is to welcome new students, to welcome back returning students, and to have fun. It also gives Blue Jays the chance to interact with their new student leaders, the student council executive board, who were recently sworn in to office on Friday, Aug. 23. At Morning Assembly on Monday, Aug. 26, the student council announced the Welcome Week theme—Stranger Things—and the schedule of events associated with that theme.
WELCOME WEEK 2019 SCHEDULE:
- Monday, Aug. 26 – Theme/Schedule Reveal, Eggo-Eating Contest
- Tuesday, Aug. 27 – Starcourt Mall Ice Cream
- Wednesday, Aug. 28 – 80’s Trivia (Students vs. Teachers)
- Thursday, Aug. 29 – Defeat the Demagorgon, Big Brother-Little Brother Jambalaya
A Welcome Week tradition, the Jesuit High School community celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit on Friday morning. After homeroom, students convened in the Benson Arena for a special assembly before proceeding to the Chapel of North American Martyrs for Mass.
