After their 9-hole match at English Turn, the Jesuit and Holy Cross golf teams stand together in a spirit of sportsmanship. The Blue Jays and Tigers are both well aware of the significant football rivalry game that is looming, a game where students will be standing on opposite sides of Tad Gormley Stadium. But for now, they stand together as two schools with rich tradition. Jesuit appreciates the kind words of Holy Cross head golf coach, Jimmy Headrick (father of Jesuit alumnus Jared Headrick ’16), who said after the match, “It’s always a pleasure playing against Jesuit, excellent sportsmanship. Two classic high schools.” As other fall sports like cross country and swimming get underway, the varsity football team has Brother Martin to deal with before thinking about Holy Cross. The Jays face the Crusaders at Tad Gormley for their district opener with kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
