Regular Order, Day 7

• Student 2 Student will meet today during the second half of lunch in Room 202.
• The Model UN Team will meet today after school in St. Ignatius Hall.
• The bowling team will face Holy Cross this afternoon at All-Star Lanes starting at 3:20.
• The varsity baseball team will scrimmage Mandeville at Mike Miley this evening starting at 6:30.
• Students who received recommendation notices for Honors Science courses for next school year are reminded that the signed forms are due today. Please bring them to Mrs. Tassin in Room 317.
• All 8th and 9th grade football players from last season’s teams are required to report to the commons during the lunch period tomorrow to sign the team photos.
• Members of Mu Alpha Theta attending the Brother Martin Tournament on Saturday will meet for practice during the second half of lunch Tuesday through Thursday in Rooms 227 and 229. Pre-Freshmen and freshmen attending will meet in Room 330.  Details will be posted outside of Room 328.

Results:

• On Saturday the 8th grade basketball team closed its season with a 41-13 victory over Rummel and and a 39-37 win over Shaw. Against Rummel Koby Young led all scorers with 13 points, and he locked down Rummel’s best player, holding him to just four points. Gus Laibe scored 11, including three three-pointers. Against Shaw, Koby Young led the Jays with 10 points, while Will Homes and Philip Lundgren each scored seven. Congratulations. 
• On February 1st, two teams of Jesuit student attorneys competed in the Region 4 mock trial tournament held at the Jefferson Parish Courthouse in Gretna.  Thirteen teams participated in a mock criminal case involving a simple robbery. Jesuit entered two teams.  After two preliminary rounds, Jesuit’s younger team of attorneys, Dalton Haydel, Ian Mercer, Preston Rumney, and Asher Terrell, and  witnesses, Daniel Lee, Wade Rogers, Tucker Schibler, and Ben Tran advanced to the semi-final round held this past Friday.  In a very even contest, Jesuit lost to Haynes Academy, which ended up winning the tournament.  Also in the preliminary competition, Jesuit’s older team of attorneys, Michael Daly, Owen Ettinger, Michael Paul Fine, and Hunter Richardson, and witnesses, Ahmed Almoaswes, Jacob DAmico, Caleb Walsh, and Ben Wombacher, performed admirably but did not advance after losing a split decision in the second round.  In individual awards, Dalton Haydel was named best attorney and Ben Wombacher was named best witness.
