Regular Order, Day 2

• Students interested in signing up for the Born to Run 5k and fun run to support the Women’s New Life Clinic can do so through the link on the Jesuit website. The deadline to register is February 20.
• All NHS members need to bring in at least one two-liter drink for the Bazaar by Friday, Feb. 21. Please check the lists outside of the English and Classics departments to see what type of two-liter you need to bring. Please bring your soda to the Classics office, Room 414. 
• The bowling team will face Kenner Discovery this afternoon at All-Star Lanes starting at 3:20.
• Jesuit’s annual Service Fair will be held tomorrow during the lunch period in the second floor hallway. Roughly a dozen organizations that serve the homeless, disabled, sick, and poor will be on campus to share information about their programs.  All students are encouraged to attend, but especially juniors in need of a service project.
• The varsity soccer team will play at Dutchtown in the quarterfinal round of the state playoffs tomorrow night starting at 6:00.  Admission price is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and children.  Note that student id’s are not accepted at the gate for LHSAA playoff contests.
• Order your Back to Banks t-shirt today during lunch in the Commons. T-Shirts will be pre-ordered this year and delivered to school on Monday, March 16. This year’s t-shirt is the Comfort Colors brand. Stop by the table to see a sample. The cost is $15 a shirt plus tax, and only Credit cards or checks will be accepted. T-shirts can be worn to school on Thursday, March 19.

Results:

• Last Wednesday, junior Brett Steele and sophomore Dylan Bracey competed in the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair with a project designed to prevent heat-related car deaths. Their project took first place in the embedded systems/robotics division. They were also given a first place award by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, a second place award by MENSA (The High IQ Society) New Orleans Chapter, and won the Neuroscience/Machine Learning Award which includes a $1000 scholarship. Their project moves on to state competition next month. Congratulations Blue Jays.
• This past weekend Jesuit’s Model UN Team competed against schools from throughout Louisiana at the YMCA Model UN Conference in Baton Rouge.  Senior Aqib Zakaria and junior Marcelo Torres were recognized as the outstanding delegates in their respective committees and juniors Ahmed Almoaswes and Owen Ettinger were elected to the board that will put on next year’s conference.  For the second time since first participating in the YMCA MUN conference in 2016, Jesuit’s delegates won the award for best overall delegation.
• On Saturday, the JV basketball team won the District tournament championship by defeating Curtis 43-35, Brother Martin 61-60 and Holy Cross in the Championship game 49-46 in overtime. William Poyadou and and Chase Whitfield dominated inside play while pulling down 21 rebounds. Holden Hess scored 17 with 3 blocks. The MVP of the tournament was Michael Britsch who scored 23 and had 6 assists.
• Last week, the Varsity soccer team opened its postseason with a dominating 4-1 win over Central Lafourche.  Senior Davis Laibe nodded two goals with Juniors Trevor Reichmann and Christopher Schmidt each grabbing a goal. Congratulations.
