Swimmers With a Strong Finish to Their Season
By Patrick Dowd ’23, Sports Editor
The swim team finished a very successful season as state runners-up. It was a great performance from all swimmers on the team, with many setting new records for themselves. One great performance for the Jays came from Phillip Endom ’21. He was named co-Swimmer of the Meet after two first place finishes, the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke. He was the only swimmer in the entire meet to win two different swims. Other notable finishes are Egan Trahant ’22 with third place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly, Joseph Capo ‘23 with a third place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, and Jack Primeaux ‘24 with a third place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.
When asked about the team’s performance in the meet, Coach Bret Hannaman ’85 said on Nola.com, “I walked up to my team after the meet and asked ‘Did anybody here not swim a best time?’ They all did. What more can you ask for. I am very pleased.” Congratulations to the swim team on an excellent season.
