Blue Jay Soccer Secures 2–0 Victory Against Lusher
After the dust settled from a hard-fought match, only one side remained undefeated on Jan. 22, 2021. While Lusher played well throughout, Jesuit (13-0-1) proved to be too much by scoring twice in the first 15 minutes and winning the battle of the unbeatens by a score of 2-0.
As expected from two defensive powerhouses, possession was hard to come by throughout the match. Both sides played a physical style of fútbol that gave opportunities to score on set pieces.
After Jesuit missed an open goal chance started by a tremendous cross from senior Colin Bruzdinski, the Blue Jays would not have to wait very long for their next chance.
After the ball went out of play, senior Maxx Hanemann found himself alone by the back post for the finish off a tremendous throw-in by senior Joe Paccacio.
Only a couple of minutes later, senior Noah Relan found himself just inside the 18-yard box and finished the half volley to perfection and gave Jesuit the final lead of 2-0.
Jesuit did end the day with 13 shots on goal but could only manage to put two on the scoreboard, which is plenty for a team that has not allowed one since mid-December.
Now, Jesuit looks ahead to a match against district rival Brother Martin at John Ryan Stadium at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021.
