The Philelectic Society presents their annual Senior Directed One-Act Play Festival on Jan. 16-18, Thursday-Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.

Seniors Collin Phillips directs the comedy The Spot by Steven Dietz, Holly Stewart directs the dramedy I Don’t Want to Talk About It by Bradley Hayward, and Jorge Galdamez directs the tragic fantasy A Long Time Ago by Floyd Dell.

All of the shows were chosen, cast, and directed by the students. Everything from the pre-show music to the final blackout was selected by the director of their respective show.

Each night will also feature the J-Troupe, Jesuit’s improv comedy team.

The Phils are continuing the tradition of hosting a charity drive in conjunction with the shows. Admission is $5 per person or five canned goods per person. All proceeds will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans.

As in years past, these performances will take place “on-stage.” Guests should arrive through the side lobby entrance of the auditorium and enter the theater through the backstage door. Seating will be in a 3/4 thrust arrangement and on a first come first served basis. Seating is limited so please arrive early. PLEASE NOTE: There is no handicap access to the on-stage seating area. All guests should plan to climb a small five-step staircase to get to their seats.

Auditions

These performances precede auditions for the Phils’ spring musical, Damn Yankees, scheduled for Monday, Jan. 20. With Monday being a holiday for students, auditioners will have extra time to practice before the 5:30 p.m. call time. Read more about auditions.
