The many great losses of 2020 included one of Jesuit’s very own, our longtime Information Technology director and Computer teacher Mrs. Sharon Hewlett. She died on December 22, 2020. A person of deep knowledge, understanding, and compassion, she will dearly be missed.

Knowledge: She knew everything imaginable about technology, especially when it goes haywire. When asked in class about something, she always had an answer to it and would always explain it in depth so her students would learn more through her understanding.

Understanding: She understood the frustration of someone when the technology caused more trouble than good. Whether it was someone who was racing against a due date, or someone just frustrated over how the technology was bringing more pain than healing, she understood and did everything she could do to resolve the problem and the frustration.

Compassion: Mrs. Hewlett showed great care to her students and faculty. She went above and beyond the call of duty for both. She taught thousands of Blue Jays how to be effective citizens of the 21st century by using digital technology and taught faculty how to be effective teachers of the 21st century.

Mrs. Hewlett, you will truly be missed at Carrollton and Banks.
