Bowlers Spare No Pins
The Jesuit Bowling Team has had another great season, finishing with a 10-2 record. The Jays began with a series of wins, defeating both Kenner Discovery and Rummel in a decisive fashion. After progressing through their season with similar confidence, the team faced Patrick Taylor in a Thursday night showdown. The bowlers broke not only a school record, but also a state record by knocking down 3,951 pins, 128 more than the old school record. After a heartbreaking loss to Brother Martin, the Jays defeated district rival Holy Cross, finishing their regular season.
The team is led by seniors Benjamin Hunn, Michael McGovern, Tyler Westfall, and Brandon Griffin. These seniors are backed up by Collin Pearce ’22, Gary Sims ’22, Will Adams ’23, Will Carpenter ’23, and Luke Wood ’23, Jonah Anderson ’22, and Joshua Barraza ’22. Gary Sims posted the highest score of the season with 267; Ben Hunn also posted the highest series with 693. Coaches Todd Bourgeois ’88 and Tom Bagwill have led an amazing team with several outstanding bowlers; they have high aspirations as the team enters the state championship bracket. Thank you to all the students who have come out in support of the Bowling Team.
