The 2021 Jesuit golf season is complete, but the junior-heavy team cannot wait for next year’s state championship. With golf being a game that requires patience and persistence, the Blue Jays know their season didn’t end the way they planned, but they have a lot to be proud of.

Their season ended with the following accomplishments: an undefeated regular season, a Catholic League championship, and a 3^rd place finish at Regionals to advance to state. Additionally, the Jays kept the streak alive of being one of just three teams to make the state tournament in the new 8-team tournament era.

While the Jays finished 6^th in the Allstate Sugar Bowl LHSAA Golf championships, they showed their class at the end, knowing that no one was stopping St. Paul’s this year, and shaking their hands in congratulations. The Wolves set a state record with an 11-under team score on Day 1 and finished at 566 (10-under team score for two days), good enough for a 28-stroke victory over runner-up Benton at 594. Catholic-Baton Rouge finished third at 597, C. E. Byrd was fourth at 600, Byrd fifth at 617, Jesuit sixth at 623, Sulphur seventh at 640, and Zachary eighth at 667.

The Jays were led by junior multi-sport athlete Morgan Hebert, who finished T-16 with scores of 77-73. Junior Taylor Boasberg finished inside the Top 20 (T-19) with 77-74. Junior co-captain Merrick Rotolo shot 73-82. Junior Jacob Schorr finished at 168 (85-83), and senior co-captain Si Holmes shot 169 (83-86).

The Blue Jays are coached by Owen Seiler ’75 and Jack Culotta, Jr. ’13.
