Jays Host Spartans of Comeaux High in 4:30 PM Match at John Ryan Stadium

Jesuit’s varsity soccer team, defending state champions for the past two years, opens the Division 1 playoffs at home on Friday afternoon, Feb. 7 against Comeaux High School of Lafayette.

The Blue Jays will host the Spartans at John Ryan Stadium, where their bi-district match kicks off at 4:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 each for adults, students, and children (ages 6-12). Student IDs will NOT be accepted at the gate.

Jesuit is seeded 6th in Division I while Comeaux is seeded 27th. The top seed in Division I is district rival Brother Martin. St. Paul’s is seeded 2nd.

The Jays won the state championship in 2012 and 2013, and ended their 2014 regular season with a 12-3 record against in-state teams. They finished 6-2 in district play.

In their final two games of the regular season, the Blue Jays defeated two good teams, Newman and Vandebilt (Houma). In each match, Jesuit scored one lone goal but put up a tenacious defense that stymied the Greenies and the Terriers, especially in the closing minutes of play.
