Jesuit defeated Holy Cross, 58-52, on Monday, Feb. 10 in front of a spirited Blue and White crowd in the Birdcage. The victory was a hard-fought revenge after a loss to the Tigers earlier this season. Three Blue Jays posted double digits to lead Jesuit to victory in the District 9-5A match-up, tying up their district record 4-4.

Junior Trey LaForge led the team with 18 and six rebounds. Senior Riley Conroy contributed 13 and sophomore Jakirai Wiley,12. Senior Grant Nichols added nine points, four rebounds and four assists.

With starter senior Chase Eckholdt on the bench due to injury, the Jays put in extra effort to take the first half, leading 29-21. The Tigers fought back in the third quarter and outscored the Blue Jays by eight to tie it up at 38.

The score stayed tight in the fourth and was tied at 45 just under the three minute mark. Through a series of trading baskets and fouls, Blue Jays made 12 points from the floor and eight from the foul line to finish off the Tigers 58-52.

Jesuit (16-10, 4-4) will travel to Shaw for the next district game on Friday, Feb. 14. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. In their last encounter, the Jays beat Shaw, 65-44. Follow game action live at Twitter.com/bluejay_hoops.
