Jesuit finished the regular 2013-2014 bowling season with a 10-1 record after a 18-9 loss to Brother Martin at Colonial Bowling Lanes on Thursday, March 13. This non-district match determined the Blue Jays will take the second seed and the Crusaders will take the first in the regional tournament on March 27 at AMF in Kenner.

Seniors Chris Totaro and Andrew Prejean led scoring for the Blue Jays. Prejean bowled a 651 series with 210, 217, and 224 games. Totaro had a 656 series with a 245 and a 219 game. Junior Chris Ainsworth contributed 211 and junior Ben Ainsworth had a 224 in the final game of the day. Jesuit fell short in the final pin count 3,714-3,412.

Both teams entered the match each with a 10-0 record and a district title. Even so, Jesuit played as the underdog. The individual player averages of the Jays lacked behind those of the Crusaders. The Jays were also playing this as “away” game on the wooden lanes at Colonial Bowling Lanes where Brother Martin bowled throughout the season. (The Jays bowl throughout the year on synthetic lanes at AMF.)

The players competed in a high-spirited match that was well attended and watched closely by the local media.
