The varsity tennis team took second place in the McGill-Toolen Invitational—a weekend tournament featuring teams from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana—held in Mobile, AL on March 14-15.

When intermittent showers started falling Saturday afternoon, suspending play, the Blue Jay team was four points behind the leader. When the rain didn’t stop, all play was cancelled for the day, and trophies were awarded based on the current standings.  Thus, the varsity team won the second-place trophy.

Singles matches winners were junior Gregory Suhor, junior Alex Depascual, senior Jordan Lacoste, sophomore Jonathan Niehaus, senior Andrew Tufts, and sophomore Jacob Niehaus. Doubles matches winners were senior Kevin Mickan and sophomore Brandon Beck.

The Blue Jays are 4-0 overall and 1-0 in district play. They will return to play a district match versus St. Augustine on Thursday, March 20 at UNO.
